Zach Meyer
Each month, ICBR honors one of its members in a special Member Spotlight. This month we recognize Zach Meyer, with Newmark Grubb Cressy & Everett.
ICBR: Why are you an ICBR member? What do you look to gain out of your membership?
Meyer:I am a member of ICBR because of the top-level education, technology, tools and advocacy provided to help me grow and succeed as a real estate professional.
ICBR: Describe a time you used an ICBR member benefit, and how it helped you or your company.
Meyer: As a member of ICBR for many years, Newmark Grubb Cressy & Everett has benefited from ICBR’s well-connected network, which in turn has bolstered our book of business through completed transactions. Furthermore, our licensed brokerage staff has benefited from the professional education and state political/legislative information.
ICBR: How did you start your career in commercial real estate/development?
Meyer: I started my career after college as a trainee appraiser under the supervision of Brent Overholt.
ICBR: Do you have any mentors? If so, who? How has he/she inspired you?
Meyer: I do not have any official mentors. Over the past few years I have learned a lot from several different brokers. I ask a lot of questions and learn different perspectives on how to approach a situation. Many Brokers have been in the business more years than I have been alive. So I have learned a great deal on what to do, but more importantly what not to do.
ICBR: What is the most important thing you have learned by working in commercial real estate?
Meyer: This business is built on relationships. You can be the most intelligent person in the world, but it does not mean anything if you cannot relate and communicate with your clients.
ICBR: What is your current professional goal(s)?
Meyer: My current professional goal is to obtain my Certified General Appraiser License by the end of the year.
ICBR: What is your most recent accomplishment?
Meyer: Being a part of opening a new Newmark Grubb Cressy and Everett office in Fort Wayne.
ICBR: Special interests or hobbies?
Meyer: I enjoy spending time with my wife and 6-month old daughter, as well as attending social events and competing in recreational sports with friends.
