Jeffrey A. Abrams – Taft
A Guide to Understanding the Basics of Title Insurance and Escrow 

Jeff is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Group. He represents banks and lending institutions, developers, landlords, tenants, builders, contractors and all types of business owners. Jeff has represented companies and lenders in documenting different types of transactions, including acquisition and development of land, shopping centers, office and industrial buildings, acquisition of businesses, development loans, construction loans and leases for various property types.



Jim Baker, SIOR, CCIM – Baker Commercial Real Estate

Jim has been a REALTOR® since 1977 and has earned the professional designations of CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) in 1991 and SIOR (Society of Office and Industrial Realtors – Industrial Specialist) in 2014. In addition, Jim is a licensed certified residential appraiser in Indiana, a licensed real estate broker in Indiana and Kentucky and has earned from the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance his designations as a Level III Assessor/Appraiser and Certified Tax Representative. Jim is a past president of the Southern Indiana REALTORS® Association, a past chairman of the Commercial Investment Committee for the Indiana Association of REALTORS® of which he also served as a Director from 1987 to 1991.

In 1993, Jim was a charter member of and was appointed to the Board of Directors for the newly formed Indiana Commercial Board of REALTORS® (ICBR) of which he served as the 2019 President and was selected as the ICBR 2016 REALTOR® of the Year. In 1994 Jim was selected as the REALTOR® of the Year for the Southern Indiana REALTORS® Association and in 2006 he was inducted into SIRA’s Hall of Fame. In 2002, Jim was appointed to the Indiana GRI (Graduate, Realtors Institute) Board of Governors and served there until 2006. Jim also served as the 2012 President of the Kentucky CCIM Chapter and is a 2012 graduate of the CCIM Institute’s JWL Leadership Development Academy.

Dr. Cathy Bonser-Neal – Kelley School of Business Indianapolis
Economic Outlook for Commercial Real Estate

Catherine Bonser-Neal is an Associate Professor of Finance in the Kelley School of Business in Indianapolis.  She received her Masters and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Chicago, and an Honors B.A. in Economics from Indiana University in Bloomington.  Her research and teaching interests are in the area of international economics and finance, with a focus on monetary policies and exchange rate behavior, international financial market liberalization, and emerging stock markets.  Prior to joining the Kelley School of Business, Catherine taught at the University of Washington, and worked as an Economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the President’s Council of Economic Advisors.  Catherine has also been a visiting professor at the University of Melbourne in Australia, taught executive MBAs in China, and served as an academic consultant in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Stan Evans, JD, CCIM – RSE Realty, Inc.

Employed in real estate since 1984, Stan has worked in many facets of the industry including the management of brokerage, property management and development firms, land sales and acquisition, commercial land development, investment property brokerage and legal, property tax, marketing and facility planning consulting.

Stan holds a law degree from Indiana University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina.  Licensed in Indiana to practice real estate, he received his CCIM designation in 2011.  He has been involved in many prestigious projects throughout the state and is actively involved in local civic and volunteer organizations.

Stan is a past president of ICBR and sat on the Board of Directors from 2006 to 2014.

Michael A. Fritton, CPA – Somerset CPAs and Advisors
Tax Planning for Real Estate Transactions

Michael Fritton is responsible for coordinating the financial services needs of Somerset’s real estate clients, as a principal in Real Estate. Mike has extensive experience in complex tax issues related to real estate and construction, including tax-free exchanges, business valuations, estate and succession planning, cost segregation analysis and financial forecasting.



Clint Fultz – Prime Site Brokers

Clinton A. Fultz is the owner and principal of Prime Site Brokers Inc. Prime Site Brokers Inc. was formed in November 2003 and is located in the Nora area of Indianapolis. Prime Site
Brokers Inc. focuses on retail real estate opportunities and represents landlords and tenants in site selection and disposition.

In 1999 Mr. Fultz was awarded the CCIM designation. CCIM is given to a select few commercial Realtors in recognition of having completed an extensive list of classes and tests, plus proven experience and deal making ability. In 1993, 1999 and 2004 Mr. Fultz won the prestigious “Exchanger of the Year” award from the Indiana Real Estate Exchangors (IREX) for his work in completing complex and difficult tax deferred exchanges of investment property. He was also honored by IREX in 2000 and 2006 with the Wechsler – Smock award for outstanding service to the organization. He was President of IREX in 1995 and 2003 and Treasurer in 1994.

Dee Headley – Cushman & Wakefield

Dee Headley is responsible for over 5.6 million square feet with property values in excess of $400 million. Her account management responsibilities include oversight of a team of managers supporting more than 26 clients and over 50 buildings. These managers handle day-to-day operations, tenant improvements, capital improvements, financial reporting, and lease and contract administration. In addition to these responsibilities, she also implements new business development with a focus on retail and facility assignments. She has been in management for over 30 years.



Andrew Horwath – Civil & Environmental Consultants

Andrew has more than 15 years of experience in environmental engineering, remediation design, and consulting. His expertise lies in:

  • Due diligence completing Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments;
  • Property redevelopment;
  • Municipality asset recovery/brownfields;
  • Environmental investigation and remediation design;
  • Industrial compliance with CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, NPDES, and Title V;
  • Vapor intrusion evaluations and mitigation;
  • Submittals of state-level Remediation Work Plans through the Indiana Department of Environmental Management;
  • Alternative cleanup funding; and
  • Liability valuations.

He has performed hundreds of cost-to-closure evaluations and reserve estimates for insurance carriers and has acted as an expert witness and technical support in numerous litigation cases. Andrew is a licensed professional engineer in Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Alabama, Georgia, and Washington.

Danielle Kaiser – North American Title Insurance Co.
Just RON with It: Technology and Innovation in CRE

Danielle L. Kaiser is Vice President and Regional Underwriting Counsel with North American Title Insurance Company. Danielle provides underwriting support for agents in Indiana and Ohio as well as the Eastern region. Danielle serves as NATIC’s forms counsel. She takes an active role as NATIC’s e-notarization and e-closing team advisor and in broader underwriting issues for NATIC. Throughout her career, Danielle has taken a decisive role in developing legislation and compliance matters.

J. Steven Martin serves as Owner, Principal Broker & Managing Director for SVN | The Martin Group specializing in the sale of multifamily, retail, investment & commercial properties in Indiana and Kentucky. With more than 43 years experience he has secured transactions valued in excess of $600 million.

Martin is 3 time past President of the Apartment Association of Southern Indiana, he served as the SW Indiana Representative of the Indiana Commercial Board of REALTORS (ICBR), past President, Vice President & Secretary for ICBR, he is a founding member & former President of the Rural Rental Housing Association of Indiana & the Apartment Owners and Managers Association of Evansville. He is a former Vice President of the Midwest Assisted Housing Management Agents (MAHMA) in Columbus, OH, and formerly served as a national board member of the Council for Affordable Rural Housing in Washington, D.C. as well as Chairman of the National Property Management Task Force. He was a founding member of the Real Estate Investment Association (REIA) and past board member of the Illinois Rural Rental Housing Association and the Indiana Apartment Association (IAA). He was Indiana Commercial REALTOR of the year in 2013 and admitted to the Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame in 2014. He is the 2019 President of the Indiana CCIM Chapter. Dean Phillip T. Powell – Kelley School of Business Indianapolis
Economic Outlook for Commercial Real Estate

Philip Powell is Associate Dean of Academic Programs at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.  He manages the Kelley School’s portfolio of graduate and undergraduate programs delivered from the IUPUI campus.  He also oversees projects for the Kelley School that drive innovation, outreach, economic development, and fundraising.  Dean Powell is the Daniel C. Smith Faculty Fellow and has been with the Kelley School since 1996 as a business economics faculty member. With a Ph.D. in economics from Vanderbilt University, his published research focuses upon business and economic development in emerging markets.

Known simply as “Riggo“ to the thousands who have laughed and learned while attending in his programs, Ed Riggins has had a career that proves you can enjoy serious success without taking it all too seriously. He learned from doing stand-up comedy that if you want to find the truth, look for the funny. He learned from improv comedy to find the natural flow and go with it.

Before becoming a national top producer, being named “Who’s Who of Commercial Real Estate“ by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and recognized as a “Power Broker“ by Costar, Riggo mowed lawns, customized cars, drove a forklift, and was a small engine mechanic, on his way to becoming a first-generation college graduate. Ed is among less than 1% of practitioners nationally to have earned both the SIOR and CCIM designations.


Don R. “Randy” Scheidt, CCIM – Scheidt Commercial Real Estate

Don R. “Randy” Scheidt founded Scheidt Commercial Realty in 2019 for two primary functions: commercial real estate consulting for existing and future clients and brokerage firm for personal investments. Randy was associated with Village Capital Corporation, a subsidiary of Pedcor in 2019.

Randy is proud to have been the founder of Don R Scheidt & Co., Inc. and guided that firm for over forty years. Don R Scheidt & C., Inc. continues to specialize in valuation chiefly within Indiana and other market areas upon client request.

Randy has served on the Education Committee of the Appraisal Institute from 2014 through 2017. He was selected by the Hoosier State Chapter of the Appraisal Institute in in 2018 the Richard E Nichols Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2017 the Edward L. White Achievement Award. He served as the 2014 President of the Hoosier State Chapter and was elected in 2015 by the HSC as its Representative of Region V of the Appraisal Institute for 2016 and 2017. Randy holds the MAI Designation from the A.I., awarded in 1980. He is an instructor for some of its courses and seminars and has served on the A.I. Government Relations national committee in 2009 and 2010. Additionally, as of September 2019, Randy was awarded the Certified Distance Education Instructor by the International Distance Education Certification Center through August 2022. He is an AQB certified USPAP instructor for The Appraisal Foundation.

Carolyn Spake-Leeper, SIOR – BND Commercial Real Estate
Education, Experience and Expertise: You need all 3 to succeed in CRE

Carolyn joined BND in 2015 after more than a decade as an associate broker at another local commercial real estate company. She specializes in sales and lease transactions of all types including both investment and owner-occupied properties.

Carolyn earned a BA from Ball State University in Marketing and Public Relations. She is the current vice-president of the Indiana Commercial Board of REALTORS® (ICBR). She is also a member of the regional branch of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), which is the highest designation to be awarded to an industrial or office commercial realtor.

Prior to her real estate career, Carolyn spent more than ten years in the Fort Wayne financial industry, including a position as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for 3 Rivers.
